RSA | Temporary Works Design | Optioneering | Major Projects
This audit assessed the proposed re-routing of traffic at a major urban intersection and freight route as part of the North East Link project. Key issues were navigation, truck swept path with likely operating speed, other geometric criteria, pavement areas and the potential for aquaplaning, temporary safety barriers, and delineation. An option was presented as a lower level compared to others due to the removal of conflict points within the intersection as well as decision making tasks for drivers. It was also considered that any conflict resulting from a possible weave would result in a lower level of severity compared to the likely crash type that could be experienced with other options.
